We are currently preparing for a joint performance with the newly formed Lexington Community Band under the direction of John Immerso.  The concert will be in the Performing Arts Center at River Bluff High School.

Monday, May 18th at 7:30

Featured guest performers:

  • Jonathan Warburton -- one of England's most versatile and busiest bass trombonists, Jonathan is actively involved in a wide array of musical performances. Currently residing in Columbia, but has played in several different big bands including Fat Chops and Gary Allcock's All Stars.
As an educator and leader in the newest concepts of teaching low brass performance, Jonathan has conducted master classes not only in his home country of England, but invitations from prominent universities and music conservatories such as Juilliard and Eastman School of Music have taken him to the United States, Australia, South Africa, and Canada.

  • Andrew Reich -- an active performer and teacher living in Columbia and touring with the nationally acclaimed "Tim Zimmerman and the King's Brass." Freelance musician who has performed in 45 states and internationally in Mexico, Brazil, and Italy.

  • trombone quartet from the trombone studio at Columbus State

Our portion of the concert will include the U.S. premier performance of the tenor and bass trombone duet, "Ithaca Stomp" by Ingo Luis.

Who We Are -- Our Intention

The trombone is a symbol of divine presence, the voice of the angels, and an instrument of the last judgement.

The Bones of Intention Trombone Ensemble is composed of amateur and professional trombonists from Lexington and Columbia, SC and surrounding areas.  We all enjoy making music and sharing it with others.  We're dedicated to making the most of all our years of training and practice (and making our teachers proud).

We regularly rehearse on the first Monday of each month and the group performs publicly 2 to 4 times per year in a concert/recital setting for the enjoyment of our audiences and to help raise money for worthy causes -- mostly in support of charity groups that help children.  Additionally, we (or subsets of us) have been known to participate in the regular Sunday or holiday services for various churches in the area.

We play a wide range of music from classical to traditionals and jazz arranged from quartets to 12-part choirs.  Sometimes we have incorporated other instruments (such as organ) and other special guests.  We ensure that a good time is had by all!

We do not charge any fees for our appearances or performances through we do hope that donations will be made to the various causes that we support.

If you have any questions or comments, please don't hesitate to contact me.
